Is American Home Protect LLC a Scam? Customer Review

I received a letter indicating a reference date with a warning that my POLICY MAY EXPIRE SOON. The letter had my legal names, purchase date, and "potential lapse of warranty coverage". That made me think it was a genuine home appliances warranty company. I called the number on the letter and I was signed up. And I have been making payments of $183.56 every month for over 12 months. The greatest mistake I made was not checking them out online or reading reviews. This company is untrustworthy and I still don't know why they haven't been shut down so far, with all the complaints from almost every homeowner like myself they tricked into signing up for their nonexistent coverage.

I called to file a claim for the very first time after diligently making payments for over 12 months, for a faulty gas knob, the unprofessional customer representative, asked me for my concerns, I explained to her what was going on and she asked for maker and model of the stove, I gave it to her and she went on to inform me is not covered by my policy.

I was shocked because I remembered vividly that I was told manufacturers warranty does not cover stuffs like this and that's where they (American Home Protect) come in, they cover what manufacturers do not cover. And the sales rep specifically used gas knob as an example when I was being marketed.

I am livid with their schemes at myself for falling for their scam and she was so annoying, I hung up and a few minutes later someone called back, a male voice claiming he is from the resolution department and said you have been with us for so long and I am going to offer you discounts on your next 6 months payments.

He said he is going to offer me discounts because I want my policy cancelled but you are not going to service my claim, but you still want me to remain with you and continue my payments. That's when it dawned on me that these guys are just in for the money and not customers satisfaction.

I strongly believe their end game is to get as much as they can before the bubble burst. I wasn't going to do this review as I hardly don't leave a negative review on companies but I felt I need to, so as to warn/alert other homeowners to this scheme. So I decided to make this review for all to see and read other reviews only to see they had the same problem. American Home Protect LLC is an untrustworthy company and cannot be trusted. Especially with their sketchy letters, and how they get people's information.

I personally like to thank everyone who has them as a scam all over the internet. You all had me dodge a scam. I received a letter in the mail & called thinking my stuff was expired. They wanted $184 up front & 190 for the next 18 months, in which they promised the next 18 free. Between them getting an attitude because I refused to commit to anything without a understanding; calling bs on the last 18 months being free (how is the last 18 months free when you are recuperating the cost of those last 18 months into the first 18 months); didn’t return my calls when disconnected; the callback number given didn’t work; & they would not allow time to think it over or compare shop (because they were too high in price); I hung up & will be calling my MTG in the morning. Sorry you all were scammed but at least you saved me from also being scammed.

I have also been scammed by American Home Protect LLC. They have been taking the $183.85 every month (with an initial down payment $177.84). Claims went full round and round circle without any actual resolution as you described. Thank you so much for writing this and exposing this fraudulent practice. Shame on people like this preying on new home owners.
