But didn't see it until weeks later (it was to an old email address). And I had another email from Paypal the follwong day saying they had automatically declined the transaction on my behalf. Fair play to PP for making the right call.an anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userJan 23, 2023 at 2:56 PM by Webroot Security LLC PayPal Scam Messagean anonymous user from: Copperopolis, California, United StatesI looked up Webroot and apparently the site I used to get their phone number was illegitimate. The so-called rep ended up signing me up with Carbonite and a firewall. I have now disputed those charges on my credit card because of my belief the call was not valid. and reported this to the FTC. I have tried to reach Carbonite to cancel for 3 days and keep being told they were having systems problems and therefore customer service was apparently not taking calls. This is ridiculous.an anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userDec 21, 2022 at 7:31 AM by Webroot Security LLC PayPal Scam Messagean anonymous user from: Châtillon, Ile-de-France, FranceSame scam, different name: Diana W Choan anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userDec 21, 2022 at 3:13 AM by Webroot Security LLC PayPal Scam Messagean anonymous user from: Hull, England, United KingdomSame scam different name - Travis H Haynesan anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userDec 21, 2022 at 2:36 AM by Webroot Security LLC PayPal Scam Messagean anonymous user from: E2, London, England, United KingdomYep, just received identical scam £499.99/from same company. I've reported the money request I got today -21st Dec from Fiona Guttman re Webroot Security(never heard of them)- for the same amount as you to Action Fraud and Paypal's phishing email rather than click anything in the message. But if the source is genuine, maybe I need to click it or risk having the money taken.
