Amazon Phone Call Scam Voicemail Purchase Alert - Beware

Scammers are calling potential victims claiming to be from Amazon. The scammers leave a voicemail claiming they need to confirm a purchase for a $499 iPhone. Potential victims will be asked to press 1 if they didn’t make the purchase so they can speak to customer service representative to cancel the purchase. If potential victims press 1, they will get a scammer who will pretend to be an Amazon representative.

The scammer will attempt to trick potential victims into disclosing their account credentials, personal and financial information, which they will claim they need to cancel the fraudulent purchase. But, if the requested sensitive information is given to the scammers over the phone, it will be used fraudulently.

Therefore, if you have been tricked into disclosing your sensitive information to the Amazon scammers, please contact Amazon for help before it is used fraudulently.
