Lloyds Bank Scam - Protect Yourself

Lloyds Bank scams often involve fraudsters impersonating bank staff via phone, text, or email to steal login credentials and trick victims into transferring money to "safe accounts". Key warning: Lloyds will never ask you to move money, share PINs/passwords, or click links to log in. Report suspected fraud immediately through the official app or call 159.

Lloyds Bank Scams

  • Impersonation Calls/Texts: Fraudsters pretend to be from Lloyds’ fraud department, using spoofed numbers to warn of a fake "unauthorized transaction" to trick you into moving funds.
  • "Safe Account" Transfer: Scammers claim your account is compromised and instruct you to transfer funds to a new, secure account controlled by them.
  • Fake Websites/Emails: Emails or texts containing links to phishing sites designed to steal, for example, usernames, passwords, and memorable information.
  • Purchase/Investment Scams: Fake online shops or "get rich quick" schemes requesting payment via bank transfer, which are hard to recover.
  • Loan Fee Scams: Fraudsters offer loans, often to those with poor credit, but require an "upfront fee".

Protect Yourself

  • Never Transfer Money: Lloyds will never ask you to move money to a new account.
  • Verify the Caller: Hang up and call back on a trusted number (e.g., from the back of your card) or dial 159.
  • Ignore Links: Do not click links in unexpected text messages or emails.
  • Check Account Details: Genuine Lloyds emails will include your name and the last four digits of your account number.
