Penndot Collections Unit Scam Text

The "PennDOT Collections Unit" text is a scam text message used to steal your personal and financial information. PennDOT has officially confirmed that it does not send text messages to customers for any reason, including traffic violations, fines, or toll collections.

What To Do

  1. Do Not Click: Never click links or scan QR codes in unsolicited text messages.
  2. Do Not Reply: Replying "STOP" or "Y" can alert scammers that your number is active.
  3. Delete the Message: Once you have recognized it as a scam, delete it immediately from your device.
  4. Verify Directly: If you are concerned about your license status, contact PennDOT Driver and Vehicle Services at 717-412-5300 or check your official account.

Report Scam

  • Forward to SPAM: Forward the text to 7726 (SPAM) to help mobile carriers block the sender.
  • Federal Trade Commission (FTC): File a report at ReportFraud.ftc.gov.
  • FBI Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3): Report the incident at ic3.gov.
  • PA Attorney General: Contact the Bureau of Consumer Protection at 1-800-441-2555.
