Martin Lewis Scam Call Warning

Martin Lewis Scam Call Warning

Martin Lewis has issued urgent warnings regarding scammers who are misusing his name and likeness to target individuals via cold calls and social media ads. He has explicitly stated that he and his team at MoneySavingExpert (MSE) never cold call anyone or endorse specific investment products.

Key Warnings

  • Renewable Energy Grant Scams: Scammers are cold-calling individuals claiming to offer grants for renewables (like solar panels) and falsely stating that Martin Lewis encourages people to engage with them.
  • Investment & "Quantum AI" Fraud: There is a "deluge" of AI-generated deepfake videos showing a computer-generated likeness of Martin Lewis encouraging viewers to invest in schemes like "Quantum AI" for guaranteed high monthly returns.
  • Impersonation Calls: Fraudsters may call pretending to be from MoneySavingExpert to offer advice on energy or broadband to steal personal and banking details.
  • Energy Bill Scams: With energy price cap changes occurring in April 2026, scammers are using his name to trick people into sharing personal details under the guise of helping them save on bills.

Protect Yourself

  • Assume all ads are fake: Martin Lewis does not do adverts. If you see a social media ad with his face, it is almost certainly a scam.
  • Disengage immediately: If you receive a cold call using his name, Lewis advises you to "politely disengage" and hang up.
  • Use the "159" Anti-Scam Number: If you receive a suspicious call claiming to be from your bank or a financial entity, hang up and dial 159 to be connected directly to your bank's legitimate fraud department.
  • Verify on the Official Site: Any genuine "money-saving" tips from Lewis will be published first on the official MoneySavingExpert website.
