  • Fake Giveaways: Scammers, often on social media, promise cash rewards (like "#CashAppFridays") in exchange for a "handling fee".
  • Imposter Support: Fraudsters pose as Cash App customer service, asking for your PIN or sign-in code to "fix" an issue.
  • Accidental Payment: Scammers send money from a stolen account, then request you refund it, only for the original transaction to be reversed later.
  • Item/Service Scams: Sellers request payment via Cash App for items that never arrive.

Protect Yourself

  • Only pay trusted friends/family: Treat Cash App like cash; transactions are instant and hard to reverse.
  • Enable Security Features: Use the app's security settings, such as requiring a PIN for every payment.
  • Verify Official Support: Cash App will never ask for your PIN or sign-in code over the phone or social media.
  • Check Usernames: Carefully verify the Cashtag of the recipient before sending money.
