The Video: How to Secure Your New iPhone in Three Easy Steps

A Summary of the Video:

  1. Enable Passcode

Enabling a passcode on your iPhone will prevent a thief from gaining access to your private photos, documents and other files. If you IPhone supports Touch ID, it is recommended that you enable this feature.

The Touch ID feature uses your fingerprint as a passcode to unlock your device; so without your fingerprint, no one will be able to unlock your iPhone, thereby gaining access to your iCloud or other Apple accounts.

Your passcode or password can be stolen, but your fingerprint cannot. So, you will have to have the physical device in your hand in order for it to be unlocked. For more information about Touch ID, please visit Apple's support website by clicking here.

  2. Password Requirements

The iPhone minimum password length is 8 characters, but to make your password harder to crack or guessed, it is recommended that you make it longer. Also, it is recommended that you make your password unique.

Do not reuse your passwords and do not use one password for all your accounts. Do not make your iPhone password the same as your online banking, email and other accounts.

  3. Enable 2-Step Verification Process

Protecting your online accounts with a password only has become a thing of the past. This is because it is not sufficient to protect your accounts.to safely protect your accounts, the 2-Step Verification process is recommended.

With 2-Step Verification, a hacker or other criminals will not be able to gain access to your iPhone or other accounts, even if they manage to get a hold of your password.

This is because the 2-Step Verification process will send a code to your Cellphone via text message or to a trusted device, which will be needed in order to sign-in or login your account.

Without the code, you will still not be able to gain access to the account, although you have the password for the account. For more information about Apple's 2-Step Verification process, please click here.
