Do Not Called 855-201-4562 - it is Fake Technical Support Number

I got a call from 855-201-4562 because my Microsoft Windows license has expired. Being a Microsoft Certified System Engineer, I knew I was being scammed, but I played along, just to waste the scammer's time. The clown had me run MSCONFIG, then close it, then from the Run command, entered the fraudulent website www.support91.com.

There are 4 links there, each will download a remote control software package; these programs are legit, but the scammer uses them to gain control of your computer.

Remember, your Microsoft Windows does not "expire", therefore, you do not need to "renew" it.

Microsoft Technical Support does not call you, you call them. And, never give a stranger who randomly contacts you remote access to your computer. Be careful and do not be fooled by the technical support scammers.

I just got a call from this number. Fortunately for me, my Samsung 8 will allow me to block numbers, so that's what I've done. It's a shame that I get more robocalls than I do actual phone calls. I rely on email for business purposes and FB for socializing.

They called me and left a number 1-855-204-1751 to call back. So I looked up the number of the initial call and found this site. The robot voice was hard to understand. Some security breach had happened and if I didn't call them my Microsoft services will be stopped. Didn't believe it and I like this site being here. Thanks

Did not answer, left recorded voice mail message saying they are from Microsoft that this is call is due to an “Emergency Security Computer License Expired“ and my computer system is at risk and must immediately call them. SCAM FOR SURE. Do not answer!

What can be done to these guys? I’ve blocked them and reported them. Can’t the FCC do anything?

I just had a call from them today in Puyallup, WA. I was unavailable to answer the call. They did not leave a vm. I have ALL the available blocks on my landline, so they did what they had to to bypass them.

Thank you for posting the info here for any future calls that might come in. I WILL IGNORE...

They called from a different toll-free number (can't tell which one, from my caller ID) and left a message with a recorded tape that sounds like it was meant to be played no more than 500 times and was now on about #5000. But I like the idea of playing along, if I happen to be answering the phone the next time they call. Thanks for the explanation.

Keeps on calling my number every couple of days, I never answer but at least they leave a message to call this fake number. Maybe I'll just waste their time some day and answer and then act real stupid and tell them I can't find the any key or anything else they ask of me. MSCONFIG is that like a Turkish fig?

    • April 26, 2018 at 9:01 PM by info

MSCONFIG is a utility in Microsoft Windows that you can use configure it. It is like changing settings in Microsoft Windows.
