This prevents cybercriminals from gaining access to your account by sending a code to your mobile device or email. But, this type of protection will only protect your account if you do not disclose the security code sent to you. This is why scammers send fake text and email messages to their potential victims requesting the code.Therefore, if you receive a text message or email asking you to respond with your code, do not. Just delete the message because Microsoft or other tech companies will never ask you to send the code via a text or email message.
