The messages are fakes and are being sent by scammers to random telephone numbers, which the scammers hope will reach some Bank of America customers, in order to trick them into calling the telephone numbers in the messages. Calling the bogus telephone numbers will only connect the potential victims to an automated telephone system set up by the scammers, which will ask them to enter their credit card numbers, names, date of birth and even their security codes.
