Is the AGA Class Action Settlement a Scam? - Allianz Global Assistance

The AGA Class Action Settlement is not a scam. Allianz Global Assistance (AGA) agreed to a $19.75 million class action lawsuit settlement to resolve claims that it charged illegal fees on travel and event protection plans offered through airline carriers and event ticket sellers.

Who Benefits From Class Action Settlement

The settlement benefits California and Washington purchasers of certain travel and event ticket insurance plans Allianz offers.

The California class includes California residents who purchased one or more qualifying travel and/or event protection plans between Sept. 4, 2016, and Sept. 30, 2023, for a trip or event within California.

The Washington class includes Washington residents who purchased one or more qualifying travel and/or event protection plans between April 2, 2018, and Sept. 30, 2023, for a trip or event within Washington.

About the AGA Class Action Settlement

According to the class action lawsuit, Allianz charged illegal fees for “non-insurance assistance services” that were deceptively hidden from consumers at checkout. Plaintiffs claim these fees violated both California and Washington consumer protection laws.
