How the McDonalds Gift Card and Voucher Scams Work

Once the cybercriminals behind these scams lure their victims to the fake web pages that they have created, they will ask them to do the following:

  • complete surveys
  • submit their personal information, which includes their names, addresses, contact numbers
  • download malicious and unwanted spamming toolbars and software
  • ask Facebook users to give their malicious applications access to their accounts

Now, it doesn’t matter how much survey you complete, information you submit or advertisement you view, you will never receive the McDonald gift card or voucher that you were promised.

The scammers or cybercriminals on the other hand, will benefit from this because they will get paid for each completed survey, viewed advertisement, and will sell your information to online marketers, or other scammers who will use the information to contact their potential victims.
