Do Not Called 1-888-991-3969 - it is Fake Technical Support Number

I have received calls twice in the last 3 weeks where the caller suggested my computer was at risk of being hacked and that I should allow him remote acces to my computer to fix the problem. The caller was persuasive, persistent and friendly, but I did decline the offer, suggesting one should never allow access to their computer to a caller. He called a second time and left a voice message claiming: "Security alert, security alert your Yahoo email has been used on other devices. Please call 1-888-991-3969."

Technical Support does not call you, you call them. And, never give a stranger who randomly contacts you remote access to your computer. Be careful and do not be fooled by the technical support scammers.

info

Received via email:

"I received a phone call from a "No ID caller" stating my Yahoo email account was compromised (not exact words). The instructions were to call 1 888 991 3969. I did call it, please let me know if I need to take anymore precautions besides changing my yahoo email password -done).

Anyway, the call was answered pretty quickly by an man with an accent (India, Afgan, Pakistan, sounding) and a distracting muted buzz sound. I realized a company like yahoo would not have someone answer so quickly with such a strange background noise. I hung up. I then received another call almost immediately, which I answered. The caller said he was from Yahoo and our call was disconnected. I said, "no it wasn't, I hung up" and I hung up again."
