Sent from an iPhone - Virus Email Message

Email messages containing the text: "Sent from an iPhone", with an attachment bearing the name "iphone.jpeg.exe" or "iphone.jpg.exe", are malicious. So, if you receive an email message of the same, please do not open the attachment. The attachment is a virus disguised as a photo. The email message was designed to trick the recipients into opening the malicious attachment by having them think it is a photo sent by someone using an IPhone.

The attachment is a malware that is known as a Trojan horse. When we scanned the attachment, the following threats were found:

  • Trojan.Win32.Neurevt.jl
  • Trojan:Win32/Neurevt.A.
  • Trojan.PWS.Stealer.3243
  • Trojan.PWS.Agent.SQV (B)
  • Win32/TrojanDownloader.Zurgop.BH
  • W32/Trojan3.GCU
  • Trojan.PWS.Agent.SQV

The names above are given to the Trojan horse that was detected.

So, even if you receive an email message with the "iphone.jpeg.exe" or "iphone.jpg.exe" attachment, and it appears as if it came from someone you know, DO NOT open it. These email messages can be spoofed, or the owners of the email accounts where the malicious email messages came from might have been hacked.

If you have opened the malicious attachment, please use your antivirus software to do a full scan of your computer.

We also recommend that you use the Bitdefender free online scanner to scan your computer for threats. Click here to scan your computer.

The name of the attachment may change, so be careful when opening email attachments. Click here for a list of email attachments you should never open, regardless of where they came from.
