The email message below: "Confirm ebanking access," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by the Capitec Bank, but by cyber-criminals, whose aim is to trick some Capitec Bank’s customers into clicking on the phishing link in the fake email message below in order to steal their personal, financial and other sensitive information.

Our system discovered an unusual conflict between your online access details and card number and have therefore set limitations to some sensitive internet banking features.

Please follow the reference below and you will be guided through the online confirmation.

There could be future problems with your access by failing to attend to this matter.

The link in the email message goes to a fake or phishing 'Capitec Bank' website, which will ask the persons who clicked the link, to enter their Capitec Bank's username, password, credit, personal information and other security information, needed to hijack the victims’ accounts.

If these persons enter the information requested, it will be sent to the scammers behind this fake email and phishing website.

With this information, these scammers will be able to gain access to their victims' accounts, sell this information to the highest bidder and further scam the victims.in this case, these persons can end up being victims of identity theft and credit card fraud.

If you unknowingly clicked on the link in the email message, please change your Capitec Bank password immediately and contact them.

Never click on a link in an email message or anywhere else to login or sign into your online accounts. Always go directly to the website by typing the name of the website into your web browser's address bar.
