The email message below: "Outstanding Debit Order Of R7,857.00 To Be Deducted From Your Account?," is a phishing scam. The email message was not sent by the 'Standard Bank', but by cyber-criminals, whose aim is to trick some Standard Bank’s customers into clicking on the phishing link in the fake email message below in order to steal their personal, financial and other sensitive information.

Subject: Outstanding Debit Order Of R7,857.00 To Be Deducted From Your Account.

Dear Customer

We received a Debit Order alert on your account this morning from Outsurance Insurance Company to deduct the sum of R7,857.00 from your account. If you don't want to authorized this Debit Order you can cancel it by following the instruction below.

You will be required to carefully enter your card details correctly as failure to do so might lead to your account closure.

Please Note:To cancell this debit order,an sms will be sent to your cell phone to REACTIVE YOUR BANKING PROFILE and CAREFULLY enter the (OTP)one Time Password that will be sent to your cell phone or email.

The link in the email message goes to the fake or phishing 'Standard Bank' website: www.huoyanshan.net, which will ask the persons who clicked the link, to enter their Standard Bank's username, password, credit, personal information and other security information, needed to hijack the victims’ accounts.

If these persons enter the information requested, it will be sent to the scammers behind this fake email and phishing website.

With this information, these scammers will be able to gain access to their victims' accounts, sell this information to the highest bidder and further scam the victims.in this case, these persons can end up being victims of identity theft and credit card fraud.

If you unknowingly clicked on the link in the email message, please change your Standard Bank password immediately and contact them.

Never click on a link in an email message or anywhere else to login or sign into your online accounts. Always go directly to the website by typing the name of the website into your web browser's address bar.
