The aim of the scam is to frighten and trick potential victims into calling 860-362-4650 thinking it is a PayPal customer service number. But, the fake customer support telephone number is being used by scammers and is not associated with PayPal

If potential victims call 8603624650, the fake PayPal customer service number, scammers will answer and pretend to be from PayPal. The scammers will attempt to trick their potential victims into disclosing their account credentials, personal and financial information, which they will use fraudulently. First, I received a phishing email from PayPal, which I had recently used to pay for an account. The transaction date listed in the email invoice was incorrect. I then called the above number Number and a fellow with an Indian accent answered, and identified himself as PayPal Representative. He requested that I go to a computer and connect to his site. I refused and then he requested a callback number, which I refused. He was quite arrogant.I then contacted PayPal phishing email site and forwarded the phishing email to them. I did receive confirmation from Paypal that they received the phishing email and were looking into it. I checked my bank and credit accounts and no new activity was on them. Recently I had already changed my password at PayPal site. This was recommended by Paypal.
