Elastic Alerts Scam - How to Protect Yourself

Fake Elastic alerts often appear as fraudulent emails, texts, or job offers, with scammers impersonating Elastic employees to steal personal data, banking details, or funds. These fraudulent communications might include fake job interviews, requests for payments, or, in the case of Elastic Email, warnings about a, "compromised account" to steal login credentials.

Elastic Scam Tactics

  • Recruitment Fraud: Impostors claiming to be Elastic staff may conduct fake interviews and request personal or financial info, or payments.
  • Account Compromise Alert: Fake, "Security alert for your Elastic Email account" emails, designed to steal credentials.
  • Phishing Links: Fake alerts often include links directing users to fraudulent websites.

Protect Yourself

  • Verify Emails: Official email communications will come from [something]@elastic.co, not .com or other domains.
  • Check Job Openings: Always verify open roles on the official Elastic Careers Portal.
  • Never Pay for Jobs: Elastic will never request payment or bank details during the recruiting process.
  • Report Scams: If you encounter a suspicious, "recruitment scam" or, "recruitment fraud alert", check guidance from the Federal Trade Commission.
