The email message below: "We received a request to reset the password associated with your account from an unrecognized device," is a phishing scam and was not sent by Amazon. The email message is a scam, designed to steal Amazon users' login credentials, personal and credit card information.

We received a request to reset the password associated with your account from an unrecognized device.

Location: Romania (IP=217.160.92.24)
Note: The location is based on information from your Internet service or wireless provider.

If so, you can disregard the rest of this email. If this wasn't you, please follow our verification process to protect your account information from potential future account compromise.

1- Download the attached document and open it in a secure browser.
2- Follow the verification process to protect your account.

Our new verification measures have been put in place in 2014 to protect our customer's transactions on our website.

This phishing email has an attachment that contains a form that will open in your web browser. The form will ask you for your , personal, credit card, and other sensitive information.

If you enter the information on the form, it will be sent to the scammers behind this phishing scam.

Amazon will never ask you to confirm that you are the holder of an account by asking you to confirm your personal and credit card information.

Also, in email messages, Amazon will address you by your name and not by the following:

  • Dear Customer
  • Dear User
  • Dear Member

If you were tricked into sending these cybercriminals your Amazon user ID, password, personal and credit card information, please change your Amazon password, and contact them and your bank immediately.
