It's not a ripoff and not a scam in any way whatsoever. It's well worth it for the money. Once anyone learns how to use it and without directions which is easy to figure out without them you will be up and running, you will not believe on how many channels you can get for movies and shows to watch and listening to radio stations when you figure out how to do it. I'm happy with it and I'm sure I'm not the only one that is.
