Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
Scammers are sending out fake census text messages like the one below from telephone number 07485787849, claiming the recipients have not completed their 2021 census form and will be fined £1000. The fake text contains a link to census-forms.com, which is a phishing website that steals personal and financial information.
"CENSUS: There is missing information from your application. Failure to update your details may result in a £1000 penalty. Visit : hxxp://census.uk-myinfo.co.uk"
The website, census-forms.com, is a fake and scam, and if you have received text messages with a link to it, just ignore and delete them. The legitimate census website is located at https://census.gov.uk/.
