Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
The "Apple Security Alert" text message(see below) is a phishing scam and did not come from Apple. The specific details provided in the message—such as the $143.95 amount and the Apple Store (CA) location—are part of a well-documented scam script used to create panic and trick you into calling a fake support number. The fraudulent support number in the text is not an official Apple Support number. Official Apple Support in the U.S. is 1-800-275-2273. Beware of phone scams.
