Is The 08081697786 Barclays Bank Letter Fraudulent?

Yesterday, scammers sent me a Barclays Bank letter asking me to call 08081697786. The letter claims Barclays Bank wants to give me money back from a credit card I had years ago. It then requested my bank details and claimed I have 30 days to provide the information. But, because I am no fool, I contacted Barclays directly and was told the letter is fraudulent because they would never put a time limit on money owned and if there are no bank details, they would send a cheque.

Just checked it out using the phone number on the back of my card. After lengthy checks etc I was passed to another dept and they talked me through the process of accessing the response form which was great. totally legit but it always pays to be wary and double check everything. good luck

I would double check that information given. If the letter arrived in a barclays envelope and the phone numbers in the letter belongs to barclays, easily checked on Google chances are it is genuine. After reading your letter yesterday I contacted the bank and after about an hour they confirmed it was genuine. I completed the form last night and today I discovered the money was credited to my account today. I would check again so you don't miss out on the payment.
