They have been harassing me about a "debt" that is not mine. The callerID says Portfoliorecov, but different telephone numbers from different states. They never leave a message. I think they are spoofing the display ID and random digit Robo dial so blocking is useless. If anyone knows anything about the Portfoliorecov call, please leave in it a comment below. Shouldn't they know who they're talking to?an anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userAug 23, 2023 at 9:19 AM by Portfoliorecov Scam Calls from Different Telephone Numbers - Portfolio Recoveryan anonymous user from: Ashburn, Virginia, United StatesI’m a minor with no debt and they call me multiple times a day every day from a different number each time and leave no messagean anonymous userhttps://www.onlinethreatalerts.com/users/#an-anonymous-userAug 21, 2023 at 5:20 AM by Portfoliorecov Scam Calls from Different Telephone Numbers - Portfolio Recoveryan anonymous user from: Bellflower, California, United StatesI've been getting these annoying calls for a few months now as well, I ignore them all. They call anywhere from once a day to once every other day from various spoofed numbers. I know for a fact that I don't owe any debts, yet they constantly call. They may stop for about a week before they resume their spam calls. If they don't stop calling by the end of this month, I'm definitely going to file a complaint with the CFPB in the hopes they take stricter actions against this corrupt debt collection agency. Hopefully the CFPB puts them out of business Because Portfolio recovery associates is corrupt. On every review site, they have a 1 star rating with nothing but complaints about their shady debt collection practices. Is that not enough to add Portfolio Recovery to the FTC's banned debt collector list?Portfolio recovery is notorious for calling the wrong number because they are debt buyers(worst kind of debt collector), which means they often buy old debts and get outdated Information. So they may try to collect a debt that is over 10 years(past the statute of limitations)old and the only info they have is a phone number, name and the amount supposedly owed. Many times the number they spam call no longer belongs to the person who owes the debt, that's why they often call the wrong person who doesn’t owe anything because the phone number has a new owner. Another reason they call the wrong person is because when they buy the debt, the data gets corrupted. So they may be calling for a "John Smith" but instead they call a "John Miller". And the worst part is that they are too incompetent and corrupt to acknowledge their mistakes. The good news is that Portfolio Recovery's whole business appears to be in shambles, the CFPB ordered them to pay 24 million dollars a few months ago after they once again busted them for their illegal debt Collection practices. And one by one they are closing their offices around the country, they are set to close one of their newer offices in Virginia by October 2023. Good riddance.
