Bank of America customers, please be aware of fake text messages like the one below, or phone calls from 1-888-795-6262. Please do not call the same number and provide the receiver or Interactive Voice Response System (IVR) with your financial information. I got the same SMS text message saying to call Bank of America at 1-888-795-6262 regarding a service matter. I called the number and an Interactive Voice System said: "Welcome to Bank of America." The Interactive Voice Response System then tried to get my full credit card number and my full social security number, as there seemed to be a problem looking up my account.
Below are some messages that persons received claiming they should contact 1-888-795-6262.

Just an FYI ... (888) 792-6262 (one number different than the number above) IS a legitimate BOA number ...
1-888-795-6262 is a fake Bank of America number, the voice prompt sounds like Bank of America, the lady who answered the phone could not wait to get my account number, my full name, my birthday, my mother's maid name. I did not give anything to her. I told her she should stop doing bad thing, she definitely is well trained, she said I understand your concern, please call the phone number on the back of your card and hang off.
Don't listen to Tuscon AZ I just received this text I called BofA fraud and they confirmed that it was a fraud text. If you get please take a screen shot and email it to: abuse@bankofamerica.com The woman that assisted me said these have been going around for some time
FAKE! Why would you only have one day to respond?
Agreed. I was given 20 minutes to respond.
just got same text message, called BOA from app and they said this is fake and to forward it to them.
just called me, went on-line and I have no messages from BOA.
I just received the same text message from that number. I did not answer. Could Bank of America do something about it?
I received the same text...I used the Bank of America number on the back of "my card" and called into the bank of America fraud department. I explained the text message without giving any information as to my name, number...etc. Bank of America Fraud department called the number and confirmed it was a Bank of America telephone Number auto dialer. Assured me the number was ligit. I called the number and it was Bank of America. Yes, they verified my personal information so that I could correct an error on my account. If in doubt call the back of your card.
They knew my date of birth. The last four digits of my credit card, address, cell phone number and my e-mail address. Don't talk to them! Try to change your numbers every now and that seems to work best.
