1-844-850-8999 is a telephone number operated by scammers that comes up in Google search results as an AOL customer service or technical support number. We called the number today and they said: "we have to call you right back." They claimed our AOL account had been "hacked five weeks ago by someone in Pennsylvania" (red flags everywhere on that comment) and said we needed to pay $119 for a purported AOL "security package" before we could access the email account again.

These are SCAMMERS based in India (clearly indicated from 3 different "customer service reps" on the call who had distinct Indian accents.

On Fri. 10 May, 2019 I googled my phone and Internet provider contact number, the search result was: 844-850-8999. Later, to my detriment, I found that these Delaware Soft scammers had falsely labelled that phone contact number as the actual and direct phone contact of the reputable phone company. Again 844-850-8999 was NOT the reputable phone company I had dealt with for years, and with which its representatives I trusted.

In this instance, a Delaware Soft “representative” said I had been transferred by the reputable phone company to Delaware Soft, as the reputable phone company “was experiencing higher than normal call-volume and unable to service its customers without out-sourcing Delaware Soft.” This was all false and in fact Delaware Soft’s scam set-up.

The Delaware Soft scammer continued, “Now that I’ve answered all your questions, how may I help you? I replied that I detected a computer or intruder on my Desktop. The scammer reassured me that he would be able to “fix” my computer remotely. He told me to activate a program he would email me. I did so and the Delaware Soft scammer changed the computer’s permissions to permit him to access all of my computer’s files and programs.

He then said that he would “secure the incoming Internet signals by establishing a firewall,” but this would cost me $1000. I was very uneasy about this, but the scammer again brought out the long-term trust I had with my reputable phone/Internet company, and I had to “decide immediately if I were going to work with him,” as he had other customers he had to service and he had already “fixed” my computer, “so for my general peace-of-mind, I should buy this security and then I would “feel safe and have no more worries.” So I purchased the full Internet security package for $1000.

Then next day, I phoned 1-844-850-8999 (because I could not detect any computer or Internet changes), and I was told that Delaware Soft had been purchased by Panamit LLC. and the Delaware Soft records were in the process of being transferred. And no one could tell me how long this transferring process will take, as most employees (Delaware Soft or Panamit— I could not find out), were on vacation.

Panamit LLC is a Michigan Domestic Limited-Liability Company filed on September 6, 2016. The company's filing status is listed as Active and its “old” File Number is E8842U. The Registered Agent on file for this company is PuneetI Singh Gandotra and his home (company?) is located at 8550 Lillian Dr, Washington Township, MI 48094.
