Thank You, this is a very important alert. I also got this email and I have blocked their email after found this article
I got this email to. It apparently was not labeled as spam by protonmail, which came as a surprise as it absolutely reeked of a scam. My concern was that by opening the attached image file there may be some sort of stenography done on the image to attach malicious code that via an exploit in Windows it could maybe infect my computer. I have avoided the image, and don't really want to look into it risking that I may accidentally open it. Here are the headers of the email from my inbox though. I found the sender domain to be interesting. coc.com is a domain belonging to the heavy metal band Corrosion of Conformity, which was formed in 1982. The domain was registered in 1997. There are no MX, SPF, or DMARC, DKIM records for this domain, so I'm not certain how it made it past ProtonMail's spam filtering in the first place...
Received this notice to my new online presence. Reeked of scam. Copied and pasted into separate tab minus the ref number. Your site is the second site to note the scam.Saved by my parania once again.
