Ourballot Scam Text Message About Help with Voting

I keep getting text messages from Our Ballot saying they want to help me vote. I did not respond. Does anyone has any information about those text messages or has anyone received similar messages.

Unsolicited text messages from "OurBallot" are not official government communications and are widely considered a deceptive spam or phishing tactic.

Common Signs of an Election Text Scam

  • Demanding Personal Info: Asking for your Social Security number, birth date, or financial account routing.
  • Inaccurate Status Updates: Claiming you or your spouse haven't voted or have registration errors when you know your record is clear.
  • Offering Prizes or Incentives: Claiming you will win gifts, gift cards, or cash for completing a survey.
  • Charging Admin Fees: Demanding a payment to process, fix, or expedite your ballot submission.

How to Safely Check Your Ballot Status

Never click on voter-related links sent via unsolicited texts. If you want to check your genuine registration status or track your mail-in ballot, bypass these messages and go directly to official channels:

  • Find Local Officials: Use the official USA.gov Election Portal to look up your state or county's exact registrar website.
  • Use Official State Tooling: Look up your state’s verified tracking tool (such as California's Where's My Ballot or Pennsylvania's vote.pa.gov).

This is what I received:

“This is OurBallot, making sure we can help you vote! Is this Alex H***? Reply Y/N to confirm.
Stop to end”

This was my response

“No you can't help Alex vote
That is a crime”

This was their counter response

“Our apologies for the error. We'll make note of this in our records, though other organizations may have old contact information. Have a nice day.”

I just got one of these texts. They knew my full name which is something I have never had happen before in a scam text. Reported and flagged it immediately. Still very concerning though...

Twice. To our Google Voice (used to protect out cell on outgoing calls and text) and our actual mobile number which one bank has he use of VOIP was not allowed.

I too checked out this text through their website which has little information - no sponsor infomation. Didnt repond to my texts over days nor through their website. They will get no resonpose from my NOR my statewide nonprofit!
