  • September 10, 2020 at 11:18 PM by an anonymous user from: Santa Barbara, California, United States

[My first name], urgent notification for the USPS shipment 7K21G7 from 08/26/2020. Proceed to m6szv.info/EjYFCs2w73. This message was received at 7:30p on the same day (9/10) as an ExpressMail letter I sent on 9/4 was delivered at 1:34p; and so it was very tempting but is a fake. The shipment code is wrong, but it’s sure seems like the sender (or sender bot) has access to my name and text number. Given the coincidental timing, I wonder if this is empowered from the USPS selling my data or, if not, from the USPS system having a privacy vulnerability. Thanks for helping expose such things.

  • September 10, 2020 at 8:05 PM by an anonymous user from: United States

I have exactly the same experience. I had this happen 3 times already.

  • September 10, 2020 at 11:43 AM by an anonymous user from: Newark, New Jersey, United States

    Received Sept 9, 6:17PM from 646-714-1393

'Sherif, final notification for the USPS package 7K2L2 from 7/28/2020. Proceed to m5smz.info/RXemS7A0qp'

No idea who 'Sherif' is, but I get lots of 'wrong numbers'/scam calls on that line. (It's my emergency phone issued by Medicaid; have had it 5 years, and it has always been on the completely ineffectual 'Do Not Call List')

I'm guessing it may be someone who is aware of how much trouble people have had getting their packages during the pandemic with all the USPS cutbacks, perhaps even someone laid off from the Post Office? Just guessing. I had issues in July and August where I had to report USPS packages missing several times.

Knew this was a scam, though. Thanks for the confirmation.

Funny thing is I've never ordered anything from USPS until this past week when I purchased stamps online. So I ALLLMost fell for it since I'm expecting that package in any day now. But, I never go to a link starting with m3svc - or weird addresses like this. Rather, I search on the internet "scam" whatever the message says. Sure enough, it pops up as a scam. Thanks for the info.

Got a text from 332-214-1021 stating final notice for usps shipment. Since I didn't think I had a missing package, I googled the number first (came up as low risk for spam), however, still was suspicious so I kept looking. Thanks for posting this.

I have been receiving these emails and other ones like it for a few months. Is it me? Or have the people we pay to provide us with a safe communication network have dropped the ball on this one. Isn’t there some organization that “REALLY TRACKS AND APPREHENDS” these

people who seek to damage and steal from us?

Why not damage their network and light up their IP address.

IP address by geographic location and computer, router, etc.

  • September 3, 2020 at 10:18 PM by an anonymous user from: Las Vegas, Nevada, United States

What is strange is I did send a package recently via the USPS. I did not click on the link, but makes me think someone has access or works at the Post Office that's grabbing the data. How else would they know?

657-418-0560 was the number I received it from.

There was another text that knew the person I was sending it to, so again, the USPS has people scamming the public.

    • September 6, 2020 at 6:20 PM by an anonymous user from: United States

I tried to Google the USPS shipment # and doesn't exist in the postal service tracking system, so I figured they got my phone # from another source, not USPS. I was employed by the postal service for 17 years, so I can file a complaint form with the USPS and get the postal inspectors get involved.
