Postcode Lottery Voucher Scam - Beware of Scammers
Postcode Lottery Voucher Scam - Beware of Scammers

I just received a call from "Postcode Lottery" claiming people in my postcode have won a discount card for a number of shops and a voucher for a Villa break. They confirmed my postcode without me telling them, but they then asked for my bank details to deposit 1p in my bank to activate the card. I of course declined and they hung up. I called Postcode lottery and they have confirmed it’s a scam and they clearly have all the RG postcodes and working down a list.

If you know of any vulnerable or elderly people in the area please let them know.

I have just received a call supposedly from Postcode Lottery claiming I had won £399, gift vouchers and a villa holiday. They knew my postcode without me giving it and wanted my bank details to activate this and to pay in the money. I was suspicious and asked where they were located and was told central London which I did not believe. After refusing to give my details several times they hung up. I then checked the caller’s number on my phone and this was 0331657559.

THIS IS A SCAM. I too have just had the same scam call . I told them that I did not believe that they were post code lottery. He was insisting that he was and that my discount would go to someone else. He was quite persistent and anyone could be drawn in to this scam . Glad I was suspicious of the call . Thanks for posting this item

I've just had the same kind of call from a woman who claimed to be Rachael from the Postcode Lottery. I got all the rubbish about a discount voucher. When I told her I didn't believe her, she politely terminated the call. Obviously scammers !

I have received a phone call this morning offering this discount card the number to watch for is 03301653374 they said they were from the postcode lottery that I had to be a certain age to qualify for this card so obviously targeting the elderly I put the phone down before they could attempt to get any information from me and would like any comments from other people who have had these calls.

I have literally just put the phone down on these scammers. They said I am eligible for a discount card for various stores, and as soon as I heard that, I hung up. I am in the Cambridgeshire area, PE postcode.

Just had a call claiming I had won a discount card allowing a 50% discount from all the major supermarkets, etc. They gave me my name, address, and postcode but once they started asking about the age range I asked them why they needed this information. I was informed they needed to activate the card before sending it ... I then politely told them I wasn't interested.

Ha ha! Exactly the same scam tried on me this morning. I confirmed my age range (not my real age, of course) and like the earlier poster was then told I was entitled to a villa holiday for 4 along with plane tickets to anywhere in Europe. Obviously everybody "wins" the same "prize". They did not get as far as asking for my bank details, because I spun them along for 10 minutes saying I was disappointed their company was offering free flights, with all the concern about CO2 emissions and climate change, and the COPS26 conference taking place right now, why wasn't there an alternative prize with train travel? She sounded *really* confused, and at least I wasted some of her time during which she might have phoned someone more gullible and vulnerable.

I've just had one, said his name was Pete Mason. I asked where he was calling from and he told me he was calling from central London, in a place called Leeds. He then gave me LSI 3DA as the postcode. The number he was calling from had a Leicester dialling code. Totally a scam. I only answered the call because I'm searching for a job.

Had this call twice in the last week. HR postcode. Try to tell you that they don't want your details because of GDPR but then tries to pass you to their supervisor to take your bank details to confirm your identity. Wasted their time for a while but they hung up when confronted that they aren't anything to do with the postcode lottery.

Yes,I had that phone call today. The caller denied being a scammer and said she only (!) wanted my bank details in order to deposit £1 to "activate my account". I asked to speak to her supervisor and she rang off. Nice to know I wasted her time that she would otherwise be using to scam someone else.

Received a phone call today from "Annie from Postcode Lottery" advising that I had worn a discount card that can be used in a variety of shops e.g. Tescos, Sainsburys. Also because I confirmed that I was in my 50s when confirming that I was over 18 I was then entitled to a villa holiday for 4 along with plane tickets to anywhere in Europe. Again looking for bank details to deposit £1 into my account to ensure that they were dealing with the right person. I kept "Annie" on the line for nearly 10 minutes and after this told "Annie" that it was a scam. She then had the audacity to say "Why are you wasting my time?!!!" before she hung up.

Told ‘Marcus’ that I didn’t have an email address, just send the card with a £1 coin or a cheque! He said he only needed my account number, to which I replied that that would be no good without my full name and Bank sort code. I finished by telling him it was ‘a load of b******s’. All in all a very satisfying conversation that lifted my mood as I was ready for a good confrontation!

This also happened to me, they knew my name and address but then advised they had to place 1s in my account, I hung up. Absolute scum if they put as much effort into a proper job they wouldn't have to scam genuine people out of their hard-earned cash.
