Is this a matter the police should be involved in? I just got this post also. It obviously is against the law to do something like this!
PNC does nothing to help if you give your account info out. I was scammed by Zelle and they said it was my responsibility even though it was a scam. Never got my money back. Thinking about changing banks. Poor customer service.
I just received a text like the one at the start of this thread,8:30 pm on May 8, 2022. I did not respond in any way to the text and will be in my bank, Citizens, tomorrow to see what is going on. I do not even have a PNC account, but I will be checking things anyway.
They just texted me and I did call them and give my information. I did call PNC Bank and my account is closed should I be concerned giving them my information?
Yes, and never give any information over the phone such as bank, credit card, birthrate, social security numbers, or even insurance policy numbers UNLESS you know exactly who you are calling. If they call you and ask for info, ask for their corporate number so you can call them back, then look up the number and see if it matches. If not, definitely do not give them any information as described above. I would now call PNC and freeze your account as of whatever time they got your info today. They will mail you new cards and even checks within 3 days normally. Hope this helps!
Yes, immediately change card numbers. They probably send them on Sundays because most banks are closed.
