Doordash Scam $200 Credit Call, Text or Email - How to Protect Yourself
Doordash Scam $200 Credit Call, Text or Email - How to Protect Yourself

If you received a phone call, text, or email claiming you qualify for a $200 DoorDash credit, a bonus, or that an active order has a "technical issue," do not share any information. This is a highly active phishing scam aimed at stealing money from your bank account or hijacking your DoorDash profile.

How the Scam Works

  1. The Trap: While you have an active order (or completely out of the blue), you get a call or text from someone claiming to be "DoorDash Support" or a "Dasher". They may even spoof their caller ID so it looks like it is officially from DoorDash.
  2. The Hook: They tell you that you are getting a $200 credit (or a driver bonus), or they claim your order needs to be canceled due to a security issue.
  3. The Theft: They will send a 6-digit verification code to your phone and ask you to read it back to "verify your identity". Once you give them this code, they log into your account, change your bank details, and drain your funds or make hundreds of dollars in unauthorized charges.

Immediate Actions to Take

  • If you are currently on the phone:Hang up immediately. DoorDash will never ask you for a password, verification code, or your credit card number over the phone.
  • If you already gave them a code:
    1. Open your app and change your password immediately.
    2. Check your linked payment methods and bank statements for unauthorized charges.
    3. Lock your debit/credit card using your banking app right away to block pending transactions.
    4. Contact DoorDash Support directly through the official app or call them at (855) 431-0459 to report the fraud.
