Dropbox Phishing Scam - "Please Confirm the Following Shipping Documents"

The email message below with the subject: "Please confirm the following shipping documents," is another attempt by cyber-criminals to trick their potential victims into infecting their computers with a virus or malware, or stealing their personal information, financial information and online account credentials. The fake email message states that the recipients should click the link within it, in order to view a document from popular file sharing or hosting website, Dropbox. But, the link actually goes to fake or phishing website. Therefore, recipients of the fake email message (see below) should delete it and should not follow the instructions it.

The Fake and Malicious Dropbox Email Message

From: sales@bebesit-cl.com
Subject: Please confirm the following shipping documents.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Please confirm the following shipping documents from your customer, sorry we could not attach it due to the size, the document has been shared with you using dropbox file sharing service.

We will send via DHL as soon you firm its ok.

Please CLICK-HERE to access shared document use your email and password.

The link in the email message will take recipients who have clicked on it, to the following fake and malicious website:

  • http://dropboxsfile.yolasite.com/documents.php

Recipients of the fake email message who have already been tricked by it, should change their Dropbox and other online account passwords immediately.

Note: Some of the names, addresses, email addresses, telephone numbers or other information in samples on this website may have been impersonated or spoofed.
