The email message below with the subject: "HMRC Tax Update," is a tax payment scam. The fraudulent email message was not sent by HMRC, but by scammers, who are attempting to trick their potential victims into sending them money and personal information. Therefore, recipients of the fraudulent email message should delete it and not follow the instructions into it. Also, scammers have created the fake website: www.st-phillips.com, which they are using to carry out their crimes. Therefore, the website: www.st-phillips.com should be avoided.

Subject: HMRC Tax Update
This is to let you know that i am just returning from the HMRC office after remitting the 43,700 GBP to them and demanding a clearance certificate.
I came back a little late due to prolonged sessions of debates with the officials and i couldn't return to my office immediately hence the delay in sending you this email. I am also sorry for missing your calls because i was not in the office to take them.
I am however sorry to say the request for full tax clearance and certificate was not granted because according to the official documentation, the whole tax has not been paid and i was made aware that the 5% was an error from a junior staff who electronically relayed the figure to me previously.
I was really disappointed because i personally had to travel some miles to their local office here to clear things up only to be told this very reckless mistake on their part. Although i was initially surprised as seen in my previous emails as to why the UK government will bill you only 5% when we as citizens even pay up to 25% as tax. I didn't raise any eyebrow because anything that gives my client lesser burden is the best for me.
I am sorry Mr. Abdullah, but according to the junior staff herself, i was told it was due to low ink in the printer which omitted some characters from the original document. Last week our communication was mainly verbal. I have however requested a receipt for the part payment and the officially signed tax assessment document and i have thus attached them to this email for your perusal.
The actual tax is 15% and not 5%. It appears the number "1" was omitted during printing due to low ink. I was very disappointed after working so hard to meet the schedule today because i wanted to make sure everything is completed today before close of work to ensure your account is re-activated today or tomorrow morning.
You are now left with 10%(85,000 GBP) to complete the tax payment. I have already submitted the 5% to them and i must confess it has been a very very hectic day for me considering the movement from my legal chambers to their local office and the long debate that ensued.
So perhaps if you can make provisions for the 10% starting from tomorrow then when all the funds clears, i will have to go back and complete the process and get the certificate and your account will be re-activated. This is a normal human error that anybody can make and i hope you take it in good fate.
Do get back to me as soon as you are in receipt of this communication to know when the balance payment will be remitted. You should contact me for the bank account details where the balance payment can be made. Upon your request, a different invoice will be raised for you as well.
