Scamming - Fraud
Scammers are using automated telephone scam calls to impersonatee Amazon Prime, telling potential victims their subscription will be 'renewed' for £39.99 or £69.99. The automated scam phone call is designed to trick Amazon Prime customers into contacting a fraudulent 'account manager'. The so-called 'account manager' will then attempt to extort personal and banking/credit card information from their potential victims. If you have received such a call, please do not share any personal information, and disconnect the call immediately.
If you receive a suspicious phone call claiming to be from Amazon, here are some things you can look out for:

I received a phone call yesterday informing me that my prime account had been compromised. I talked to someone claiming to be from Amazon who asked me to download an app from playstore. I downloaded but before it was completely installed I hung the phone up and stopped the installation. Had a feeling it wasn't right. They get more ballsy every year.
