These emails and messages are financial scams or phishing scams and have taken several forms. The scams may claim you have an unpaid and allegedly overdue invoice, with the target of the fraud asked to immediately remit payment. They may also mention an unclaimed inheritance for the recipient, with the target of the fraud asked to advance fees.
