VDOT Toll Scam Text Messages

However, the Virginia Department of Transportation(VDOT) does not send unsolicited texts or emails. These scams are successful because they scare people into acting quickly, using language like final notice " or, avoid penalties or similar. The websites provided will closely resemble legitimate toll payment sites due to the use of graphics from official online sources.

The link in the scam text goes to a fake and phishing website operated by scammers that steals their victims' personal, financial information and use it fraudulently.
