Barack Obama Legacy Board Text Message Invitation Scam
Barack Obama Legacy Board Text Message Invitation Scam

The "Obama legacy board" or "Obama program" text message is a phishing scam. It uses the former president's name or a fake political legacy initiative to trick you into clicking malicious links or handing over personal information.

How the Scam Works

Scammers send unsolicited text messages claiming you are eligible for an "Obama legacy" reward, grant, or presidential library invitation. These messages contain shady shortened links designed to steal sensitive data (like passwords, bank details, or Social Security numbers) which can lead to identity theft.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Do not click links: Never tap random links in unsolicited text messages.
  • Avoid responding: Do not reply to the text, even to type "STOP" or "YES," as this verifies your number to scammers.
  • Verify independently: If a message sounds like a government or legitimate political offer, do not use the contact information provided in the text. Search the organization's official website directly.
  • Report and delete: Immediately delete the message and report it to the Consumer FTC.
