Tap To Reset Your Instagram Password 32665 Text Scam

If you have received a text message that reads "tap to reset your Instagram password," which appears to be from the telephone number 32665, do not click the link in it. It seems scammers are sending phishing text messages to potential victims and making them appear as if they were sent from 32665.

How the Scam Works

  • The Bait: You receive an unsolicited text message or notification prompting you to tap a link to secure your account or reset your password.
  • The Danger: Clicking the link often redirects you to a fake login page that mirrors Instagram, capturing your credentials if you type them in.
  • Real Triggers: Sometimes the text/email is actually generated by Instagram because an attacker typed your username into the reset form, hoping you will panic and click the malicious follow-ups.

What You Should Do Instead

  • Ignore the Link: Never click links inside unsolicited text messages or emails regarding security resets.
  • Open the App Directly: Manually open your official Instagram app or go to the official website to check your settings.
  • Check Official Emails: Inside the app, go to Settings > Accounts Center > Password and Security > Recent emails to see if Instagram actually sent anything.
  • Secure Your Account: Turn on two-factor authentication (2FA) and update your password to a strong, unique combination directly through the app.
