If you are taken to a website or a pop-up window appears asking you to download any of these players, please close the window. Cybercriminals are using online advertisements to trick persons into installing viruses or Trojan horses, by disguising them as FLV and VLC players.

If you attempt to download and install one of these malicious players, you will be asked to download the following files:

  • FlvPlayerSetup.exe
  • setup.exe

The file names may change.

When we scanned the file "FlvPlayerSetup.exe", the following threats were detected:

When we scanned the file "setup.exe", the following threats were detected:

  • Unwanted-Program ( 004942d71 )
  • PUP.Optional.Outbrowse
  • Trojan.Win32.Generic.cthmwf
  • OutBrowse
  • TROJ_GE.5C6F1877
  • OutBrowse (fs)

If you install these malicious files, your computer will get infected with a virus, Trojan horse or other annoying Potentially Unwanted Programs (PUPs), which may be used to steal your personal and financial information, by allowing cybercriminals to remotely spy or take control of your computer.

Now, if you have already download and installed one of these malicious programs, please use your antivirus to do a full scan of your computer and use the following program to remove any unwanted programs that were installed on your computer:

You do not need to download and install any FLV program or files. This is because your computer is already able to view to view Flash videos.
