Hoax - "Do Not Put the France Flag as Your Profile, ISIS Will Kill You and Your Family"

The message below: "DO NOT put the France flag as your profile picture (no offense to the French) I'm warning you all. The ISIS will find you and kill you and your family," is nothing but a hoax. The bogus message, spreading on social media or networking websites like wildfire, claims that Facebook users who use the French flag overlay in support of the victims of the tragic terrorist attacks that took place in Paris, will be hunted down and kill by the terrorist group called ISIS. The message also claims that ISIS will kill the family members of the same Facebook users. But, Facebook users should continue to show their support for the victims of the terrorist attacks because the message is a hoax that may have started by a prankster, someone who finds it funny to create public panic, or by members of ISIS who want to spread disruption, fear and terror.

Please continue reading below.

The Hoax or Fake Facebook ISIS Terror Warning Message

**WARNING**: DO NOT put the France flag as your profile picture (no offense to the French) I'm warning you all. The Isis will find you and kill you and your family. Government and Obama is getting ready to fight the Isis. After France is the USA... Then so on and so fourth. Please get ready and share this status for you and your family/friends. Copy and Paste

The Facebook flag overlay is a feature that allows Facebook users to blend or mix their profile photo with the French flag, in support of the victims of the terrorist attacks that took place in Paris.

Below is an example of the French Flag overlay.

French Flag Overlay for OTA

The example above shows Online Threat Alert’s Facebook profile picture using the French flag overlay.

How do we know the message is a prank or hoax?

There are millions of Facebook users around the world who are using the Facebook French Flag overlay, which will make it impossible for members of the ISIS terrorist group to find and locate. A lot of Facebook users have not updated their profile with their addresses, and others have not updated their profile with their exact addresses. Most are using their cities or towns, which is not enough information to locate them. Also, most users are using Facebook privacy settings to prevent other users, even their friends, from viewing their addresses.

Also, it is virtually impossible for anyone to locate all Facebook users who are using the French Flag overlay. Well, not unless you can call up the almost one (1) billion Facebook users and ask them personally. Then again, you will need their telephone numbers, or you will have to send a friend request to them. Getting the telephone numbers of one billion Facebook users, calling them, or sending one billion friend requests, seems impossible to me. What do you think?

The recipients of the fake or bogus warning message are asked to delete it. Sharing such propaganda will only cause public panic by people who have no respect for others, and law and order.
