I received this email and refused to give them my bank details, so they said that I could receive a registered bank cheque but requested my telephone numbers of my mobile phone and land phone, my home address, and a scanned copy of my international passport. I don't understand what they can do with such personal information. This is the email I received which refers me to a bank called the CARTER ALLEN PRIVATE BANK with this data I received this email:

Here is another scam.

I have received notice from an old acquaintance, Dan Murphy, that UPS had delivered his grant money and that he had seen my name on the winner's list.
Initially, I was suspicious because there is simply no reason whatsoever I should be receiving a grant from this foundation much less hearing about it from an old acquaintance that I didn't really know all that well anyway.
Moreover, telling me that UPS delivered grant money to his doorstep sounded phoney, but I decided to see where this would go.
Finally, after some encouragement, he gave me the phone number of the claim agent, Cheryl Sandberg at (507)442-2970. Being in the same business as Dan for several years, I went to the industry web site where I learned that Dan had passed away November 25th of last year, which insofar as I can see, is proof positive that this is a scam.
Do you wish to follow up? I will report it to Washington's Attorney General's office to see if they want to probe and prosecute.

I was told by a friend that she won $150,000 from the Bill Gates Helping Hands grant. She claims she saw my name and picture on the winner's list and gave me the phone number of the representative she worked with.

I called and the man was foreign, could barely speak English. He sent me a short email saying I was a winner and asked for name, address, email, birth date, email addy, occupation, monthly income, and mother's maiden name.


I talked to my friend again before sending and she swears it is legit but I am afraid I just set myself up for identity theft. What can I do?

It is a scam and you are not talking to your friend.

Ask the person questions only your friend would know and you will see.

I was scammed tonight with this and they used the name of one of the most respected people in my church. I caught on to late and they had my info already. Who can I report them to, I have saved everything.

I too received an email from a facebook friend stating he saw my name on the winner's list and that the Bill Gates foundation was given to certain individuals 100000 dollars. But, all you had to do was send them 2000 dollars via western union to process lawyer fees so it is tax-free. I felt a scam there was one like it where they would call and say they are with the US government and you have received a free loan of 10000 dollars and you had to send them 250 dollars via western union to process it.

I am certain this is the same man thing is the person who told me is a facebook friend and I know of him and swore he received money but yes put up 2000 and to call a number but no one answered; if the man is getting on facebook accounts and impersonating facebook friends, facebook needs better protection for people

A Facebook friend gave me an email address and told me she had gotten money from this foundation. I sent an email & this guy said he would check the winners list and get back to me. So I went along with it for awhile until they said I’d have to pay the attorney & ups fees before they would deliver the money. $1000 for $100,000, $2000 for $200,000 ...... up to $10,000 for $1,000,000. I said h**l no!

So for several days my friend kept trying to talk me into doing it. I was about to go ahead when I decided to google the foundation just to see what came up. Am I glad I did! Your website just saved me $2000❣️

I received an email from the Bill & Melinda Gates foundation stating I was the winning person for $300,000.00 from the empowerment program. It stated they were getting a check to the financial department for obsolete protection and they would advise on how to proceed and get my check delivered to me.

My name was on a list of random people selected because I saw it on there. Is this legit or is it fraud. I have not contacted these people about the check at this time.

They said that they saw my name on a list of winners and that I hadn't claimed my winnings yet. It also has a logo with the words Urban Poor Fund International on a copy of that list. I told him that he better do some research on this before he goes broke. He said that he got $300,000.00

I was involved in a scam this weekend thru texts. The number they used to send me texts was 631-246-4521. They robbed me of $1500. I am on a very fixed income, and 80 years old. Evidently, this is a phishing scam. I hope all of these crooks burn in h**l.

Wanted to tell you that 2 different times I've been approached via messenger that you are "giving away grant money." 2 different phone numbers-both are scams. (209) 803-5759 & (806) 464-1061. They are doing this via friends lists on Facebook sites they've hacked into .

This is so sad. I have a friend who has given all his personal info to these people.

The scammer picked one of my Facebook friends and sent this c**p to me from the friend. Then ask for my personal info. Then informed I had to send a minimum of $850. to win. Stating the more you send, the more you can win. Furnished a name and address to send a Walmart transfer to. H**L is awaiting frauds such as this. Karma will pay them a visit!

I received this kind of an email dated the 18th Dec 2017. I accessed it in my email box on 29th Dec 2017. I had no knowledge of this kind of scam email before and to me the way it was presented it never appeared it was a scam. I was very excited about it, thinking it was real. I showed it to my family members - my wife and children - and assured them that God has eventually visited us with His miracle. Even when my son looked at the printed email, he confessed that it did not appear to be a scammed email.

I started getting jittery about it when I showed it to a friend who told me that it was a scammed email, and other friends too who are conversant with this type of email confirmed to me that it was a scammed email. I have every reason now to believe that the email was scam because I have not received any response or heard from the purported sender of the email up until the time of sending this email.

I ignorantly supplied to them all the information they requested thinking it was genuine. I really feel disappointed and broken that I was deceived.

I received 3 of those emails. I did not respond to it because I assumed it was a scam.

u mean to tell me that this letter I received from mr Gates is a scam? Don't know what to think of this!! Thought my plans had come true! It shouldn't be allowed for these things to be published!

Here I am need to get out these projects into a nice 3 bedrooms house and try to live the life as quiet as possible. Here I am a 77yr old with multiples of medical issues and this is not true!! To revisit will not be necessary for me I am sick!!

My cousin said he received this money and told me to sign up. I gave out my email address age and address. Now they are asking me for $1000 to get 100k. I feel scammed. I ask my cousin to call me I feel like it’s not my cousin talking to me.

It is not your cousin. His account may have been hacked.

A Facebook friend insisted that she received the money but she herself was part of this scammer.

It may not be your friend. It could have been a scammer impersonating her.

We were scammed out of $11,283 by a person named Sandra Mire and Deborah Holm. They said they work for Gates Foundation Grants. They were giving out winning money out to people. They are charging a charging fee to get it. You also had to pay 10% off the top to the IRS upfront. They had the winners on a winner list. I just want to be aware of them representing your foundation. They also do their scamming through Facebook using IM. They have a web page with Sandra picture on with Bill Gates and his wife on it.

Hi, was asked by a "Friend" to contact Agent Mary Johnson as my name was on the winner's list. She replied straightaway and then asked for the details for the delivery etc.

When asked what was the catch she didn't inform me until at the end that I was to pay administration, tax clearance fee upfront and that I will receive my funds within 24 hrs and that I was "rest assured the money will be your doorstep next day".

Since I queried why can't the money be deducted from the winnings fund she informed me it was not possible. She was waiting for my response how much I wish to claim and how much I would be paying upfront.

I haven't confirmed her the amount but she did get my information as to name and address and my marital and work status. I am quite worried about giving this info but thank God I didn't send her any money nor any ID photo!!

The referral insisted that she got the money from the foundation but I think she is trying to con me into this scam and feel she is also involved now.

This referral turned out to be an online “so-called” friend and insisted that it wasn’t a scam and that once I send money I will get my rewards. Stupid b**ch!! Hope she ends up losing her money for trying rope other people into it through her bad deeds!
