Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) Account Locked Phishing Scam

Navy Federal Credit Union members are asked to be on the lookout for "Navy Federal Credit Union (NFCU) Account Locked" email messages like the one below, which claim the recipients' Navy Federal Credit Union accounts have been locked because of suspicious login attempts. The phishing or fake email messages are being sent by cybercriminals to steal their online banking account credentials, personal and financial information, therefore, recipients are asked to delete them.

Navy Federal Credit Union members are asked never to click on a link to sign into their online accounts, they should instead, go directly to www.navyfederal.org and sign in from there. If there is something wrong or there is something that they need to do with their accounts, they will be notified or alerted right after signing in. Doing this will prevent them from clicking on links in fake email messages that go to phishing websites, which will prevent cybercriminals from stealing their information and gaining access to their accounts.

Note: The Navy Federal Credit Union will never send their customers an email message requesting banking credentials, personal and financial information. And, they will never send an email message with an attached form requesting the same sensitive information.

Here is another scam: "Subject: Account Locked - Urgent Action Required To: Recipients From: " Navy Feeral Credit Union" Date: Wed, 05 Sep 2018 12:59:27 -0500 Dear Member, We have locked your Navy Federal account becase we detected a security breach which has made some of your vital details missing. Kindly take a moment to validate and have your account access restored. RESTORE YOUR ACCOUNT ACCESS Thank you, Navy Federal Credit Union"
