Over the past few months, I have received a few scam calls from 888 area code telephone numbers. Most of the scam calls were technical support and banking scams. The scammers' aims were to trick me into giving them remote access to my computer or trick me into calling a fake banking number where I will be asked for banking credentials and other sensitive information.

If you were tricked into giving remote access to your computer, please disconnect your computer from the internet and ask a tech-savvy person to scan your computer for malware or spyware. And, if you were tricked into calling a fake banking telephone number and have disclosed your banking information, report it to your bank.
