International Parcel Service Scam - FIPS IPS016448296Ca

International Parcel Service Scam - FIPS IPS016448296Ca

The International Parcel / FIPS Service text parcel notifications below are fakes. The fake messages, which claim the recipient's parcel has been stopped for unpaid customs fees, are scams created by cybercriminals to steal their potential victims' personal and financial information. Therefore, recipients of the same text messages are asked not to click the link in them.

The International Parcel Service Scam

"We tried to deliver your parcel IPS016448296CA, but there is an unpaid customs fee. Please follow the instructions here: 08o.me/Xw1OZ"

"There is an update on ur parcel. Item stopped due to unpaid customs fee. Follow the instructions here: https://bit.do/fLNJD"

I got another fake text from IEIPS-SMS: "016448296GB" and was taken to a fake IPS (International Parcel Service) website, which automatically entered the so called tracking number and then wanted my personal details and €1.50 for a customs fee. The link in the text is "j5l.website/Xljmb".

  • September 4, 2021 at 3:37 AM by an anonymous user from: Miami-Dade, Miami, Florida, United States

I just received the exact same SMS. Curious about what it could be, I followed the links until I got to the payments page. Getting no precision on what could be this package, for which I owed customs fees, I googled the validity of the so-called IPS and landed on your website. Happy to have skipped the payment procedure, I would appreciate if you could inform me on how to ensure no recurrence of this fraudulent scam.

    Thank you!

  • July 18, 2021 at 6:23 AM by an anonymous user from: Sudbury, Greater Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

I love clicking on these, brave web browser allows me to sandbox the page and block trackers and scripts. I very often suspect Google is the culprit here as there is no way my private cell number keeps getting in the hands of scammers except in the case of a breach. Not to mention just having my private unlisted number is illegal on its own. Keep sending me bit.ly shortened addresses, I will only click on them in my secure browser, and I will not enter any info, but I'll accept the challenge. And no I haven't ordered anything. The scam probably would have been more successful if they had pinpointed what exactly was supposedly stopped at customs. But anything bit.ly is so often a scam I usually refuse to click these anyway, even if it is to a reputable company. To shorten the link like that masks the true origin, and that is shady on its own.

  • July 16, 2021 at 12:20 PM by an anonymous user from: Jasper, Elizabethtown-Kitley, Ontario, Canada

The broken English is amazing "We tried to transport your box, still there is a belated reckoning." Wut? But I tracked their website (made in the last week) to "Namecheap" and can at least report this one. They'll pop up again, but ONE DOWN.

  • July 14, 2021 at 12:19 PM by an anonymous user from: Willowdale East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

This scam is so ridiculous! I just recieved a text from the “International Postal Service” that apparently my item is stuck at customs….the weird part is that I never ordered anything! Lol such a stupid scam! Do people actually fall for this nonsense? I’ve been receiving these scam texts for atleast 2 years if not longer, which makes me think that these scammers must have some success at retrieving peoples (actually victims) information which they use to make a profit. Because why else would they continue to keep sending these texts out. And actually how were they able to get my cell phone number? That’s pretty scary!

  • June 13, 2021 at 6:27 AM by an anonymous user from: Stockholm Municipality, Stockholm, Stockholm County, Sweden

    I got today 2021-06-13 a message like ...

'Dear XXXXXX (the correct name), we attempted to deliver your parcel, although there is an overdue part. Click here: http://9kc.me/AXwnR'

I clicked and it takes me to a IPS message with the message 'You have a pending delivery. Use your unique tracking code to track and receive your item.', a tracking code and a 'Track your item' button.

Pushing the button is showing me a new page with ...

    Package information:

    'Status:

Stopped at distribution hub (outstanding customs charge)

    Shipping via:

    Intl tracked courier

    Customs fee:

    $3.00'

Then they ask for delivery form, address and credit card details.

I thought before giving such data it is time to check who the hel is IPS... so I found your lines here.

    Thanks!

  • June 8, 2021 at 3:34 PM by an anonymous user from: Willowdale East, Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Got one today (June 8 2021). Coincidentally I ordered something from Amazon. It came to my phone as a iMessage. It stated it had a shipping problem because of missing parts. What I order was from Amazon warehouse as a returned item that had nuts, bolts, etc… So I tape on it and up came the UPS sort of looking logo with a message saying the item was being held due to a customs fee of 3$. I went to my Amazon account to check things out and found nothing unusual. So I got on SafarI and googled the name and discovered it’s a phishing scam. Logged out of my Amazon account and cleared my cookies. Went back on to SafarI to google this name again and a realistic apple web page popped up stating I had malware and to click on this scan button before the timer ran out. Cleared my cookies again and reset my apple device completely.

I received one today with my correct name from a number 323-320-8947. 'we attempted to deliver your order, nevertheless there is an unpaid payment. See more on: (and then a link). At the link it asks for where it should be delivered and payment of $3. It sounds like the same scam.

  • March 17, 2021 at 5:12 PM by an anonymous user from: Alberta, Okotoks, Alberta, Canada

I received a text message on my phone from a 639 area code. It said "Hey Shea" (not my name), The order is held in our imports center. Follow the link to receive order" I pressed the link and it took me to an IPS (International Parcel Service) stating it had a "pending delivery" with a tracking code and a button stating "Track your item". I pressed it and then it asked me my preferences like, Where do you want the parcel delivered (home or work) when would I like it delivered (weekdays or weekends) and a few other questions. It then stated that "my preferences have been saved" I replied that I wanted it delivered to my home during the week day. It then stated that I had to pay $2 for import duty and asked how I wanted to pay. I did not go any further. Two things alerted me to fraud. 1) Wrong name and 2) I hadn't order anything.

  • March 10, 2021 at 3:29 PM by an anonymous user from: East Windsor, Windsor, Ontario, Canada

I just received the same message...they have some fake tracking number they send via text .iam expecting a delivery however as I looked into this further, when I was asked to submit my information for delivery I'm redirected to a Samsung phone being delivered with an offer of $1 ...$1 for a new phone! Right below my Samsung offer is information for me to complete! Which is odd because UPS already has my information including delivery address!DEFINITELY A SCAM for person information to accounts etc

Just got a text about this very thing from 44 7511 648484 -

HI there - Your parcel has been held at our shipping centre. Please follow instructions here: oq4.me/ivDPF.

Very convincing as I'm expecting something from abroad. Like some of the others, I filled in my shipping details then I saw the iphone 12 page and stopped short of entering any payment details, thinking this does not feel right. Clicked off the page and purged SafarI of all cache and websites visited.

Hopefully got it in time. Normally I'm pretty good at detecting these phishing texts - emails. This was a close call.

Ive contacted Paypal numerous times and they just brush it off as no biggie. They r probably a part of these scams because I never hear back and I see no information of them following through... makes me angry

The SMS was from the number 20740 saying, 'Your item has been delayed. You can re-book your delivery slot here. Please update it now. 21h.me/7ondS'.

The URL took me to the IPS tracking page with the tracking number IPS082194730UK and asked me to pay a £1.50 customs charge.

I got the same text today 26/1/21 with the exact same tracking number! I’m expecting something from abroad as well so I was think it was real until I googled the tracking number and your response came up! Thanks :)

Hah I also got exactly the same tracking number! Stop trying to take my parcel :p. Eurgh, they nearly got me tbh. I didn't recognise the company name but it was the iPhone ad that really got me suspicious. FYI useful to report this to 7726 to get it blocked by operators. Just forward the text to that number. https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-telecoms-and-internet/advice-for-consumers/problems/tackling-nuisance-calls-and-messages/spam-texts

I am aslo waiting for a parcel and got this exact same tracking number and exact same custom charge asked for (£1.50) Text from 66573 said 'You have a pending delivery. Use your unique tracking code to track and receive your item.'

I clicked on delivery options. I had a choice of 'I want it delivered' or 'Collection Point'. When I clicked on collection point it took me to a page which said you item is already at the depot. BUT didn't say where the depot was. When I clicked on 'I want it delivered' it took me to a page wanting personal details and a 'be into win' Apple iphone. So suspected a scam and didn't fill in my details. It looked quite authentic up to that point. Be careful

I got a text message saying:

There is a service update on ur delivery. Please check its status here: https://bit.do/fLVM4

Since I am expecting a few packages from overseas, I clicked on the link. It took me to a website for IPS that looks authentic. It asked me to put in my details and pay the $2 custom fee. Up to this point, I thought it was legitimate, but when I clicked next, it asked me for my shipping info but also said there was a chance to win an iPhone. This is when I realised this was a scam.
