240 Area Code Scam Calls - Have You Received One?

2407261866 - I didn't answer it said possible scam. And, I don't know anyone from there

I a call on my cell phone from 1-240-488-8695
I knew right away it was a scam call
I don’t know anyone in the US let alone Maryland I didn’t answer

240-436-5857 - Hang up on answering machine...interesting part is, I just came through this area on Dec. 3rd when I missed my exit on the way home from a trip. The call is coming from IJamsville, MD. Shows up as a VOIP.

I got a text from 240 6790094 saying he can help eith my money that I was scammed for. ($14 000). said his located my funds for a payment of $50. I paid then said I must pay $100 for software. I paid. Then said I need to pay $547 for transfer of funds immediately. I paid and now his saying I need to pay $550. Claims his from socialcatfish.

I received a message via WhatsApp from 1(240)3680108. It just says "hello". Perhaps the scammer is waiting my reply before responding but I just sent him a emojI as I know this is a spam

Recieved a interview survey scam call from (240)266-8930. Didn't answer their call as I was almost certain if I had answered, it would be a scam. Afterwards, I checked to see if they'd left a voicemail, and sure enough... Some unknown male (possibly foreign, judging by the sound of his voice) was on the other end talking about how I've been 'selected' for an 'instant interview survey', who then proceeded to ask if I wouldn't mind him interviewing me with a few simple questions. Once their strange voicemail ended, I took a quick second to listen to it again and again (just to make sure I heard everything he said correctly). Then, once I was satisfied with everything I heard, I proceeded to delete the voicemail from my inbox. Lol.

Scammers pretending to be from Amazon saying I was being charged over $1,500 for some things bought and were asking for an Amazon code.

Received at text from 240 729-1677 pretending to be the CEO of One-Tank.com

I keep getting calls and my caller ID says it is from PAF whatever that is from this number. 15306215919. And when you block that number the next day they call on another number, still with the caller ID saying call from PAF. They never leave a message.

240 335 9876. scam. Says they are working from chase or amazon. whichever gets the scam to go through. Had a false charge on amazon. ended with this number and the caller trying to get us to purchase gift cards that would help 'reverse the charges.' asked for info on amazon and reported they would have to clear it. he represented himself as a chase employee.. They had also mirrored the phone we were using so they were aware of any warning from chase that a unknown charge was going through
.. Make sure of who your talking to. if not hang up and call the main number for your bank or amazon. ask specifically for who you were talking with. if scammed they will not know the person you talked to. based in Washington DC are 14

Received several suspicious calls, many claiming to be from political candidates, with this area code. All reported and blocked.

Got a call from 240 466 9770 said the call was from Amazon someone was using my account to purchase an iPhone and it was from Daytona. They needed my info to stop the transaction. Thought it was legit. Found out they were trying to take money out of my credit card. Stopped my card immediately

I'm on a pen pal app and this person wrote me saying that they were from Nigeria I made a basic comment back their next message was I'm busy text me at this number and we can chat well the number was 240- 339-5072 so I'm here right now learning that that's Maryland great

Got texts from 240-245-7841 threatening violence and claiming he (Ricardo Zarzuela) is part of Mexican cartel and that I need to pay money or me and family will be beheaded. He sent graphic pictures of killings and guns.
