Online Threat Alerts (OTA) - Alerting you to scams and frauds.
802-222-8790 is being used by scammers. The scammers are sending out fake text messages and asking recipients to call the same telephone number. I just got a text from 410-100-014, telling me to call Citibank at 802-222-8790. I used a different phone, called the number, put in all fake info and numbers the computer asked me for (debit last 4#'s, my full name, mothers maiden name), and all through the prompts, it verified my identity, even though everything I entered was fake. I then blocked both the text telephone number and 802-222-8790.

I received the same text as described in the post, claiming to be from Citibank with an error on my account. I called the phone number listed in the text (802-222-8790) from a public phone. It was answered by an automated recording claiming to be Citibank. It asked me to input my 16 digit debit card number, which I didn't do. I hung up, googled the number, and viola! it's a scam.
Received a scam text from Citi bank stating a problem with an account for the second day in a row, I don’t have any business with this company. They will be blocked.
I received a text an alert from Citibank for an unspecified problem. I suspected it, Googled 802-222-8790 and I am grateful to see other reports, and reason to doubt its authenticity.
