Mayline Loan Scam Voicemails and Text Messages

The "Mayline" loan scam is a fraudulent operation where scammers send unsolicited texts and voicemails claiming you have been approved for a personal loan, typically from "Mayline USA". The core goal is to steal your sensitive personal information or demand illegal upfront fees before "releasing" the loan.

Common Scam Tactics

  • Unsolicited Approvals: You receive a text or voicemail stating you are "approved" for a large loan (e.g., \(\$60,000\)) even though you never submitted an application.
  • Fake Representatives: Scammers often use generic names like "Stephanie" or "Danielle" and encourage you to call back immediately to claim the money.
  • Upfront Fees: They ask you to wire or transfer money via gift cards or payment apps to cover "processing fees," "insurance," or "first-month payments" before disbursing the funds.

How to Protect Yourself

  • Never Pay Upfront: Legitimate lenders never require you to pay a fee out of pocket to receive a loan.
  • Ignore the Texts: Do not reply "END" or click any links, as this verifies your number as active for future scam attempts.
  • Hang Up and Block: Block the sender and do not return calls to unfamiliar numbers claiming you won a loan.

If you have already interacted with them or shared sensitive details like your Social Security Number, immediately report the incident to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) or log the incident on the Better Business Bureau (BBB) Scam Tracker. Consider placing a fraud alert with major credit bureaus to protect your identity.
