It appears scammers are calling potential victims from 855-357-7144 and other 855 area code telephone numbers pretending to be from United Airlines, offering them some form of refund. Therefore, recipients of calls from 8553577144 are asked to take precautions and should never disclose their financial and other sensitive information over the phone. It’s not United Airlines, they’re pretending to be a company called United Refunds saying you are eligible for a refund for W2 employees. I’ve had people call from 714, 209 and more area codes. This is the voicemail I received. “HI this is Ken up with United refund today is Monday the 17th _ could you give us a call when you receive this phone number is 855-357-7144 again phone number 855-357-7144 I still ___ hear that your business should be entitled to _______ ___ _____ the W-2 ______________ we have payroll this is for 2020 and 2021 if you have a few minutes I will need to update you with a total refund amount going back to your business him as well as the timeframe you would be receiving your refund __________ look forward _____ with you bye-bye…”
I also got a call. No business. Clearly a scam.
"United Refunds" called to notify my of a 2020-2021 business employer refund. Funny, I don't own a business. Very much a scam.
